What Does 1 Samuel 11:4 Mean?
The messengers arrive at Gibeah, Saul's own city, and report the threat against Jabesh. The people respond with tears, grieved and helpless before a danger they cannot meet. Their weeping is honest, but it is also the response of those who have not yet remembered that God has given them a king and a Deliverer.
Tears are not the end of the story when God is near. The same grief that paralyzes can become the prayer that prepares for rescue.
