What Does 1 Samuel 2:10 Mean?
Hannah closes her prayer on a vast horizon. The Lord will shatter his foes, thunder from heaven, and judge the ends of the earth. Her personal joy widens into a vision of God's universal reign and justice.
Then comes a striking word, for as yet Israel had no king: God 'shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.' The Hebrew word for 'anointed' is messiah.
