Samuel takes a nursing lamb and offers it as a whole burnt offering, entirely consumed and given up to the LORD. As the offering ascends, he cries out to God for Israel, and the LORD hears his prayer. Sacrifice and intercession rise together to heaven on Israel's behalf.
