What Does 2 Kings 19:16 Mean?
Now Hezekiah brings the matter close. He asks God to incline His ear and hear, to open His eyes and see, and to take account of the words Sennacherib has sent to reproach the living God. The prayer is bold, almost intimate, calling on God to attend to this exact insult.
Twice Hezekiah has named the living God, and the contrast is the heart of his plea. Sennacherib has spoken against a God who actually hears and sees, not a deaf idol of metal.
