When the disciples return empty-handed, Elisha reminds them that he had already told them not to go, vindicating his earlier refusal.

Context

After three days of fruitless searching, the fifty disciples return to Jericho where Elisha has remained. Elisha gently rebukes them for not trusting his initial refusal.

Application

When those who walk closely with God speak a word of caution or refusal, we are wise to heed it. Experience often confirms what faith must accept before seeing.
