Context
Elisha stands at the spring of Jericho, the source of the water that has poisoned the land. He performs a sign-act and speaks a prophetic declaration of healing in the name of the LORD.
In the Original Language
'Thus saith the LORD' (Hebrew ko amar YHWH) is the classic formula of prophetic authority. It signals that what follows is not Elisha's opinion but God's decree. The healing is God's act, spoken through the prophet.
Application
The word of God, spoken in faith and authority, accomplishes what it is sent to do. We are called to speak God's healing and restoration over the broken places in our lives and in the world, trusting that His word will not return empty.
