What Does 2 Kings 25:21 Mean?
At Riblah the captured leaders are put to death, and with that the sentence on the kingdom is sealed. The chapter sums it up in one heavy line: Judah was carried away out of their own land. The promised land lies behind them now.
This is the low point of the whole story that began with Abraham's call. The people God planted in the land are uprooted from it. And yet exile is not extinction. The prophets had foretold both the scattering and the gathering, and the God who removed His people would, in His mercy, bring a remnant home again.
