Jehoram cried out that the Lord had summoned the three kings only to deliver them into Moab's hands.

Context

Despair is the first response to crisis; Jehoram speaks it aloud, in front of his allies and troops, a dangerous moment for a king's authority.

What Does 2 Kings 3:10 Mean?

And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!, hear the bitterness in that word Alas. Jehoram has read the circumstances as judgment. God gathered three kings, brought them into the wilderness, left them without water. The logic seems airtight: it must be ruin.

Yet this is the voice of the flesh crying out in fear, interpreting delay as defeat. Jehoram has not yet learned that the deepest trials are often the doorway to deliverance.

Application

In our darkest moment, we often misread God's hand. We call judgment what is actually preparation for grace.
