Context
Despite Jehoram's despair, Jehoshaphat's confidence in the prophet gives direction and hope to the entire party.
What Does 2 Kings 3:12 Mean?
And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him, Jehoshaphat speaks with certainty born of faith. The word of the LORD is with him. Not hope; not guess. Knowledge. The three kings descend to the prophet's tent or encampment, desperate and humbled.
Leadership sometimes means speaking the truth others need to hear, even when, especially when, they cannot see it themselves. Jehoshaphat's faith becomes the bridge that carries his companions toward deliverance.
Application
When we know God's presence in someone, we can trust them to speak truth, even if circumstances look otherwise.
