The king converses with Gehazi and asks him to recount all the great works Elisha has performed.

Context

Gehazi is Elishas servant, and the king is curious about the prophets deeds. This is the very moment when the woman arrives to petition the king, creating a remarkable divine timing.

What Does 2 Kings 8:4 Mean?

The king sits with Gehazi and asks him to relate the mighty deeds of Elisha. This is not idle curiosity. Kings in Israel were expected to know the prophets of the LORD, to understand what God was doing through them. Gehazi becomes a living catalog of miracles: the oil that multiplied, the Shunnnamites son raised from death, the Syrian lepers cleansed, the floating axe head. Each story testifies to power beyond human reckoning.

In this conversation, we see God orchestrating timing with invisible precision. The king is being prepared, his mind directed toward Elishas mercy and power, just as the woman arrives to seek justice. God has woven her story into the very fabric of the kings consciousness through his servants testimony.

Application

Our faithfulness in bearing witness to Gods works matters more than we know. Gehazi simply tells the truth about what he has seen. That faithful testimony, at the right moment, shapes the hearts of rulers and opens doors for justice. Do not underestimate the power of your testimony.
