Peter never finishes the sermon. While the words are still in the air, the Holy Spirit falls on everyone listening — a whole Gentile household met by God in the middle of hearing.
God himself sets his seal on the welcome of the nations; no human deliberation decides it. And notice where the gift falls: on them which heard the word. The Spirit met them in the hearing of the good news of Jesus — reason enough to stay close to that word, and to keep listening.
