What Does Acts 20:32 Mean?
Paul's protecting presence is ending, so he places the church where it has been kept all along: in God's hands, and under the word of his grace. That word is not bare information; Paul says it carries power — to build believers up, and to bring them at last to an inheritance among the sanctified.
What Paul cannot finish, God will. The grace that begins a good work completes it (Phil 1:6), raising a life the way a house goes up, course upon course, with a promised inheritance waiting (1 Pet 1:4). When we must release people we love — children, friends, congregations — this is the strongest of all hand-offs: commending them to God and to the word of his grace.
