What Does Acts 22:6 Mean?
Now comes the event itself, told by the man it happened to (compare Acts 9:3; 26:13). It was midday, when the eastern sun stands at full strength, yet this light from heaven outshone it, engulfing the traveler just short of the city he had come to purge.
Paul was not seeking; he was hunting. Heaven interrupted him. The light that stopped him is the mercy of God arriving unbidden, brighter than all his certainties. The God who commanded light to shine out of darkness still shines into hearts to give the light of the knowledge of his glory in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6), and no one is beyond that reach.
