Thrown to the dust, Paul hears his name doubled, the way the Lord called Abraham, Moses, and Samuel (Genesis 22:11; Exodus 3:4; 1 Samuel 3:10). The question cuts deeper than any accusation: not why persecutest thou them, but why persecutest thou me.
