What Does Acts 22:8 Mean?
Paul asks the only question that finally matters. The voice from the glory answers not with a title of state but with the name of a Galilean town: Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified one whom Paul had counted dead and discredited.
In one sentence Paul's world turns over. If Jesus of Nazareth speaks from heaven, then he is risen and vindicated, and the way Paul persecuted is the way of God. The exalted Lord still bears his earthly name and history; the one who reigns in glory is the same Jesus who walked our roads (Acts 1:11). Faith rests on that identity: the King of heaven is the crucified man of Nazareth.
