What Does Acts 4:28 Mean?
The prayer's boldest sentence: those who gathered against Jesus, freely and culpably, accomplished what the hand and counsel of God had marked out beforehand. The cross was no accident that overtook him; it was the salvation foretold by the prophets (Acts 2:23; 3:18) — wicked hands, holy purpose.
This is why the threatened church is calm. If God's purpose ran through the darkest conspiracy in history and brought redemption out of it, present threats cannot derail his work.
