What Does Acts 5:19 Mean?
The deliverance is quiet and unobserved: the guards keep standing at their posts, and the doors are found locked in the morning (verse 23). It is the first of several opened prisons in Acts (12:7; 16:26), each one a sign that the gospel cannot be confined.
