What Does Acts 7:25 Mean?
This is Stephen's comment on the scene: behind the rash act lay a true calling, and Israel could not yet see it.
Here the great theme of the speech surfaces: the deliverer unrecognized. It will happen again with Moses at his return, and at last with Jesus, who came unto his own and his own received him not (John 1:11). It is slowness of heart, not lack of evidence, that blinds (Luke 24:25).
In the Original Language
syniemi (συνίημι), 'understand' -- to put the pieces together and grasp the meaning.
