What Does Amos 9:3 Mean?
The catalog of hiding places continues. Though they conceal themselves "in the top of Carmel," with its wooded heights and caves, God will search them out. Though they sink "in the bottom of the sea," hidden from all sight, even there His command reaches them through the creatures of the deep. No height is too remote, no depth too dark.
The repeated "though... thence" hammers the same truth: every refuge fails. The mountain forest cannot screen them; the ocean floor cannot swallow them.
