What Does Daniel 10:9 Mean?
Though stripped of strength, Daniel still hears the voice speaking. The sound itself overpowers him, and he sinks into a deep sleep with his face to the ground. He is conscious enough to hear, yet unable to rise or respond.
This deep sleep recalls the trance that fell on Abraham as God made His covenant, a state in which a person is wholly passive before God's working. Daniel can do nothing now but receive. There are seasons when the soul has nothing left to offer and can only lie still beneath the word of God, and even there the Lord does not abandon His servant but prepares to lift and strengthen him.
