Having threatened death, the king now dangles reward: gifts, riches, and great honor for any who can reveal both dream and interpretation. The two motives, fear and gain, are the only levers a worldly court knows how to pull.
Yet neither terror nor treasure can produce what is not in human power. The king offers everything he has, and it is still not enough to buy true revelation. What Babylon's gold cannot purchase, God will freely give to a servant who asks Him in faith. The contrast prepares us to see grace where wealth fails.
