Ephesians 4:27 Meaning and Explanation

Paul adds a brief but pointed warning: 'Neither give place to the devil.' Unresolved anger and other sins can become an opening, a foothold the enemy exploits. What seems a small matter can grow into a doorway for greater harm.

To 'give place' is to surrender ground that need not be lost. Paul reminds his readers, as he did earlier, that a real adversary seeks entry. Guarding the heart against lingering sin is part of standing firm. We close the door simply by refusing to let sin remain.
