The Context of Exodus 40:19
On the appointed first day of the first month, Moses begins erecting the tabernacle. He fastens the sockets, raises the boards and pillars, and inserts the bars. Verse 19 adds the tent and its upper covering, following the detailed curtain and covering instructions first given in Exodus 26 and completed by the artisans in Exodus 36. Moses then places the testimony in the ark, brings the ark into the tabernacle, and hangs the vail. The table, candlestick, incense altar, entrance hanging, burnt offering altar, laver, and court follow.
