What Does Ezra 5:1 Mean?
After the foundation of the second temple was laid, opposition and discouragement had brought the building to a standstill for years. Into that silence God sends Haggai and Zechariah, whose own books preserve the very words that revived the work. They do not speak on their own authority but "in the name of the God of Israel."
