What Does Ezra 6:5 Mean?
When Babylon destroyed the first temple, Nebuchadnezzar had seized its gold and silver vessels as spoil. Cyrus now commands that every one be restored to its own place. What had been taken in judgment was to be given back in mercy.
Nothing holy is finally lost to the enemy. The vessels set apart for God were returned, each to its place, so that the worship interrupted by exile could be taken up again. The Lord remembers what belongs to Him, and in His time He restores it, that His people may serve Him as before.
