Genesis 15 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

God takes Abram outside on a clear night and gives him a promise as big as the sky.

Today's Story

Abram still didn't have any children, and he was getting old. He wondered how God's promise of a big family could ever come true.

So one night, God took Abram outside. “Look up at the sky,” God said. “Count the stars — if you can!” Abram looked up at thousands and thousands of twinkling stars, far too many to ever count. “That's how big your family will be,” God said.

And Abram believed God. He couldn't see how it would happen, and he didn't have even one child yet — but he trusted God's promise. And that made God glad. God counted Abram's trust as something beautiful and right.

God made Abram a solemn promise that night — the kind you never, ever break. God was saying, “I will absolutely do this. You can count on it as surely as the sun coming up.”

Every time Abram looked up at the night sky after that, he remembered: God keeps His promises — even the impossible-sounding ones.
