What Does Genesis 19:30 Mean?

After the destruction, Lot becomes afraid to stay even in Zoar, the small city he had requested and been granted as a refuge. He takes his daughters and goes up into the mountains to dwell in a cave. His initial request for the small city has proven inadequate to his peace of mind.

Lot's move to the mountains fulfills the original command he had resisted. Fear of remaining near the destroyed cities drives him to seek greater distance and isolation. The cave dwelling represents a marginal existence far from urban society.
