The rain has stopped. Now Noah waits — and sends a little bird to find out if it's finally time to come home.
Today's Story
The rain finally stopped. But the world was still covered in water, so Noah and the animals waited inside the ark. God did not forget them. He sent a wind, and slowly, slowly, the water began to go down.
The ark came to rest on the top of a mountain. Noah wanted to know if the ground was dry yet. So he opened a window and sent out a dove. But the little dove couldn't find anywhere to land, so it flew right back to him.
Noah waited seven days and sent the dove again. This time it came back in the evening with something in its beak — a fresh green olive leaf! The plants were growing again. Noah's heart leaped.
He waited seven more days and sent the dove once more. This time… it didn't come back at all. It had found a home. The earth was dry!
Then God said, “Come out of the ark!” And out they all came — Noah, his family, and every animal — into a clean, fresh, brand-new world. And the very first thing Noah did was build an altar and say thank You to God.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Noah had to wait a long time in the ark, even after the rain stopped. What's the hardest part about waiting for you?
- The dove came back with a tiny green leaf — the first sign that things were going to be okay. Has God ever given you a small sign of hope during a hard time?
- The first thing Noah did when he came out was thank God. What's something you want to thank God for right now?
