What Does Hebrews 10:6 Mean?
Continuing the words of the Psalm, the verse repeats that God found no settled delight in the burnt offerings and sin offerings of the old order. The point is not that He despised His own commands, but that they were never the final goal.
Ritual without a yielded heart cannot satisfy God. The offerings were meant to lead to love and obedience, not to substitute for them. When the heart is absent, the smoke of the altar rises in vain. God has always sought the worshipper's whole self, and in Christ that whole self is at last given. The verse quietly prepares us for the obedience that follows.
