A blessing begins, praising the God of peace who raised Jesus, the great Shepherd, by the blood of the eternal covenant.

What Does Hebrews 13:20 Mean?

The letter rises into a closing benediction. God is named the God of peace, the One who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead and crowned Him as the great Shepherd of the sheep. This resurrection is sealed by the blood of an everlasting covenant.

Every great theme of the letter gathers here: the once-for-all sacrifice, the unbreakable covenant, the living and reigning Christ. The Shepherd who laid down His life was raised to lead His flock forever. The blood that ratified the covenant is not a fading rite but an eternal bond. On this foundation the blessing is built, for the God who conquered death for His Son will surely keep and complete His people.
