What Does Hosea 10:8 Mean?
The high places of Aven, the hilltop shrines that embodied Israel's sin, will be torn down, and thorns and thistles will overrun the abandoned altars. So great will be the dread of judgment that the people will beg the mountains and hills to fall on them and hide them from what is coming.
The cry to be covered by the mountains is the language of terror before God's justice.
