What Does Hosea 2:1 Mean?
Hosea's children had been given names of sorrow in chapter 1 -- Lo-ammi, 'not my people,' and Lo-ruhamah, 'not pitied.' Here, at the opening of chapter 2, the prophet tells the household to address one another by the names with the 'not' stripped away. The verdict has not been spoken yet; the promise comes first.
