Context
No delay. The word of the LORD comes to Isaiah while he is yet in the house or turning from the king's chamber.
What Does Isaiah 38:4 Mean?
There is no gap between prayer and response. Hezekiah has not finished weeping, and already the word is in motion. God has heard and acts. This is not because Hezekiah deserves it on the balance of merit alone, but because he has prayed in faith, offering his whole self to God's judgment and mercy together.
What we see here is the nature of the living God, who is not a distant force but One who listens and speaks and moves. The LORD does not weigh Hezekiah's faithfulness on some cosmic scale and pronounce a verdict. Instead, He hears the prayer and responds with amendment. The same God who spoke the sentence of death now speaks a word of life.
Application
God waits to hear from us, and when we cry out in honest faith, His response is ready.
