Context
Hezekiah, after his miraculous healing from a mortal sickness (Isaiah 38), receives an embassy from Merodach-baladan, a Babylonian king who learned of the recovery. This political gesture masks a darker purpose: the king wants intelligence about Judah's resources and power.
Application
When God restores us, we become immediately vulnerable to pride. We notice how others see us differently after our healing or blessing. The test is not whether we remember God's goodness, but whether we guard our hearts against the subtle drift toward self-reliance that restored capacity brings.
