The islands and remote peoples will declare God's praise. The farthest outposts of the world will testify to his power and goodness.

Context

A brief restatement emphasizing that even the remotest peoples will testify to God's glory.

What Does Isaiah 42:12 Mean?

This verse distills the essence of the previous calls to praise: every place, especially the islands and far-off lands, will give glory to the Lord and declare his praise. The islands represent the uttermost parts of the known world, the places farthest from Jerusalem and from the centers of Israelite power and understanding. That even these remote peoples will declare God's praise speaks to the universal scope of salvation. It is not a local or tribal blessing but one that will eventually touch all humanity and bring them to the knowledge of God.

The word declare suggests active testimony, not silent acknowledgment. These island peoples will not merely believe in their hearts; they will speak, testify, and make known the praise of the Lord. This is the fruit of the servant's work: the knowledge of God spreading to the uttermost parts of the earth, carried by those whose voices are heard in the farthest islands.

Application

God intends for his praise to be declared everywhere, by every tongue. If you have tasted his goodness, you are called to declare it, to be a voice that carries his praise to others. Start with those nearest you, and let the circle of testimony expand. You are part of fulfilling this ancient promise.
