What Does Job 11:10 Mean?
From God's unsearchable wisdom Zophar moves to God's irresistible power. If God passes by to arrest, to shut a person up, or to call an assembly for judgment, who can hinder Him or turn Him back? No court can overrule Him, no force restrain Him. His will, once set, runs unopposed.
Zophar means this as a warning to Job: do not argue with a God you cannot resist. Yet the same sovereignty that frightens the guilty steadies the trusting. Because nothing can hinder God, no enemy can finally thwart His purposes for His people, and no power can pluck the faithful from His hand. The unstoppable will of God is a terror to rebellion and a refuge to those who shelter in His mercy. How we meet that power depends on whether we come as foes or as children.
