The waiting is over, and Elihu commits himself. He will answer his part and show his view, taking up the share of the conversation that now falls to him. The decision is deliberate, the fruit of long listening rather than impulse.

There is a humble dignity in claiming only one's 'part.' Elihu does not pretend to have the whole answer or the final word; he offers his portion and trusts it to do its work. Each of us is given a measure to contribute, no more and no less. To speak our part faithfully, neither shrinking back nor overreaching, is its own kind of obedience.
