What Does Job 33:23 Mean?
At the darkest moment a figure appears: a messenger, a mediator, rare as one in a thousand, whose task is to show a struggling soul the way of uprightness and plead its cause.
Job had longed for exactly such an advocate, someone to stand between him and God. Here that longing takes shape. The promise of a mediator who interprets God to us and us to God, and shows us the righteousness we cannot find ourselves, finds its perfect fulfillment in the one Mediator who came to do precisely this for all.
