What Does Job 34:22 Mean?
Elihu extends the thought of God's all-seeing eyes: there is no 'darkness, nor shadow of death' dark enough to conceal the workers of iniquity. Wherever the guilty might flee to hide, God's sight penetrates. The deepest gloom is no veil to Him who made both light and dark.
This truth strips away every false refuge of secrecy. No deed is truly hidden, and no concealment lasts. Yet the same light that exposes also redeems, for the God from whom we cannot hide is the God who invites us to come into the light and be cleansed. 'The darkness and the light are both alike to thee.' To be fully known by Him is, for the repentant, not terror but the doorway to grace.
