What Does Job 38:39 Mean?
God now turns from sky and earth to the creatures, beginning with the lion. Can Job provide the kill for the lioness or fill the hunger of her young lions? The fiercest of beasts depends on God, not Job, for its food.
Even the powerful predator does not feed itself apart from God's provision. The Lord supplies the wants of his creatures, from the greatest to the least. If God feeds the lions, he surely will not forget his children. This is the same assurance Jesus would teach, that the Father who feeds the wild things will much more provide for those who seek his kingdom.
