What Does Job 39:2 Mean?
Still on the theme of wild birth, the Lord asks Job to do what only the Maker can: tally the gestation of creatures in the wilderness and mark the appointed moment they bring forth their young.
Job is being shown the limits of his sight. A hidden clock governs every living thing, wound and watched by Another. What Job cannot number, God has numbered from the beginning. This is meant not to crush but to comfort: the world is not adrift but held, every season counted by a faithful hand. The One who appoints the months of the hind also appoints the times of His people.
