Still describing the warhorse, the Lord asks whether Job could make it spring forward like a leaping locust, and marvels at the terrible majesty of its snorting nostrils.
The horse's very breath is grand, its leap beyond Job's making. This is a creature whose courage and power Job can admire but never create or command at will. God paints the animal's glory in vivid strokes to enlarge Job's sense of the Maker's artistry, to lift his eyes from his own troubles to the splendor all around him.
