What Does Job 40:10 Mean?
With a touch of holy irony, God tells Job to dress himself in the robes of divine glory, majesty, excellency, beauty. These are the garments of the One enthroned over all. The invitation is impossible, and Job knows it; the splendor described belongs to God and to no creature.
The point is not to shame Job but to clarify where true majesty lives. We are made in God's image, yet we are not God, and the glory that rules the world is not ours to wear. This frees us. We are not asked to carry the universe or to be the source of our own salvation. We may leave the throne to the One whose it is, and find in His unborrowed glory a rest our own small strength could never give.
