What Does John 1:43 Mean?
A new day, and the initiative changes hands. Andrew found Simon; now Jesus himself findeth Philip. On the road north into Galilee, the Lord speaks the call that will echo through all four Gospels, two words long: follow me. No interview, no trial period, a Person calling a person.
Some come to Christ through a brother's word, and some he finds himself, on an ordinary road, in the middle of plans already made. Either way the meeting is no accident: he was looking. And the command is also a promise. To follow is to be led, and to be led by him is to arrive where life was always meant to go.
