Solomon's porch was a long covered colonnade along the east side of the temple courts, sheltered from the winter wind — a natural gathering place for teachers and their hearers. The early church would later meet and preach in this same colonnade (Acts 3:11; 5:12).

There is something steady in the picture: amid mounting hostility, Jesus walks openly in his Father's house, hiding nothing, available to any who would come. The place where he is about to be accused will soon ring with the preaching of his name. God's purposes outlast every season of opposition — the same stones that hear a blasphemy charge will hear resurrection news.
