Everything the Father possesses belongs to Jesus; therefore the Spirit, taking from Christ's fullness, will reveal infinite riches to believers.

Context

Jesus restates the unity of the Father and Son, establishing that the Spirit will draw from the infinite treasury of divine glory.

What Does John 16:15 Mean?

The union of the Father and the Son is so complete that Jesus can say, All that the Father has is mine. Not a portion, not the good things, but all things. This is not metaphorical; it speaks to the profound oneness of Father and Son. From this infinite treasury, the Spirit will draw and give to the disciples. What is the Spirit doing when he 'shall shew' us things? He is distributing the fullness of the Godhead, the wisdom of God, the love of God, the power of the resurrection, the hope of glory. Each believer receives according to their capacity, yet each is given something from the infinite store of divine grace.

For the early disciples this was astonishing to contemplate: they, who had just lost their Teacher to execution, would receive the riches of the Father through the Spirit. And not only them -- all generations of believers who would come after. We are inheritors of this promise. The Spirit is still drawing from the fullness of Christ and distributing grace to us.

Application

Do not believe the lie that God has a limited supply of grace, truth, or power. All that the Father has is Christ's, and all that Christ has is made available to you through the Spirit. Come to the Spirit in prayer asking for what you need: wisdom, courage, love, healing, clarity. He distributes freely from an infinite store.
