Now that the pursuit is finished, Joshua turns to the unfinished business. He commands that the cave be opened and the five kings brought out to him. The hour he had deferred has come; the sealed stones are rolled back, and the captives are led into the light to face judgment.
The kings had hidden in darkness, but they cannot remain hidden. There is an appointed time when what was set aside is taken up again, when every account is settled.
