What Does Joshua 10:33 Mean?
As Lachish is besieged, Horam king of Gezer comes up to help it, but Joshua strikes him and his people until none remain. The would-be rescuer is swept away with the city he came to save. Any force that rises to oppose what God is doing meets the same end.
The episode shows that resistance to God's purposes, however well-intentioned toward an ally, only adds to the defeat. Horam threw his strength against the tide of God's work and was lost.
