What Does Joshua 2:20 Mean?
The men name one final condition. If Rahab reveals their mission, they will be freed from the oath she has made them swear. Her own faithfulness in keeping silence is woven into the keeping of the promise made to her.
Trust runs both ways in this covenant. Rahab asked the men to be true to their word, and they ask the same of her. Faithfulness is the thread that binds the whole agreement together. The Lord who is ever faithful calls His people to walk in faithfulness as well, keeping covenant with the One who keeps covenant with them.
