What Does Joshua 21:5 Mean?
The Kohathites who were not of Aaron's priestly line are settled farther north, among Ephraim, Dan, and western Manasseh. The one family of Levi is spread deliberately across the whole breadth of Israel.
No region of the people is left without those set apart to teach and minister. The careful spreading of the Levites means that wherever an Israelite lived, the word and worship of God were near at hand. God scatters His servants so that none of His people dwell beyond the reach of His instruction.
